Frequently Asked Questions

If there are any other questions or concerns, please contact us at info@gillsummercamp.com
  • What is the Camper - Counselor Ratio?

What makes our camp so unique is that each camper’s child:counselor ratio never exceeds 10:1. On field trips the ratio may even be as low as 5:1. Besides having camp counsellors with every group we also have Volunteers to help out within each group.
  • What are the Ages of Our Campers?

Our campers range from children starting SK, all the way up to Gr. 8, in September. Our “little campers” refer to SK – Grade 1 students. Whereas most summer camps place children together within a range of ages, Gill Summer Camp places children together by the grade they are entering in September.
  • What are the Hours of the Camp?

The camp runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 am and picked up as late as 4:30pm. There is no extra charge for extended hours.
  • Is the Camp Fee Tax Deductible?

Yes. Before your child’s last day you will receive an official tax receipt that can be used by the parents.
  • Do Children Bring their Own Lunch?

Students must bring a nutritious lunch from home, expect for one day a week where we provide cheese pizza for all students. Please make sure all lunches and snacks brought from home are peanut and nut free.
  • Is Bussing Available?

Yes. Bussing is available within Brampton. Please call us for more details about this year’s bus routes.
  • Can my Child be in the same group as their friend?

Yes! Please let us know at the time of registration and we will do our best to ensure that they are in the same group.
  • Where do you get your staff from?

Many of our staff have come up through the ranks from camper to volunteer to staff. Approximately 80% of our staff were campers at Gill Summer Camp. When we do hire a staff member who has not been to GSC before, we ensure that they have the necessary qualifications to instruct the activities that they will be teaching and most importantly, a desire to work and care for our campers. Our counsellors are hired through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative and must be attending post secondary education and must submit a criminal record check before they are hired.
  • How can I register?

If you would like to register online with secure payment, please click the “Register” button on the top of the screen. You can also give us a call and we can register over the phone. For Springdale/Castlemore call (905) 458-6184. For Brampton West call (647) 892-2358.
  • Do I have to register my child for the entire 4 weeks?

No it is your choice how many weeks you want to register your child for. We offer a 4 week package for the entire camp or a 2 week package for Weeks 1 and 2 or Weeks 3 and 4. Once the camp is full we will put your name on a waiting list and contact you if space becomes available.
  • Is there a registration deadline?

We do not set a last day to register. As soon as camp fills up we close registrations and begin a waiting list. We would highly recommend to register as early as possible as each year we have to turn away a large number of families. We are very proud to say that last year we had over 750 campers register across both locations and are grateful and humbled for the support of our community.
